Mixed Media Tag

Hello everyone,

Today I am post very different technique which I want to do from very long time but I was not able to do or else I can say I didn’t get opportunity to make mixed media project. I made this tag for a one ATC swap group on facebook, I hope you’ll stay till post ends.

Ok so this was my first try, and used homemade Gesso and Modeling Paste. For colors I have used zig markers and distress oxide ink. I was expecting a better result with use of modeling paste as I can’t see stencil and gold embossing powder. I think I need to make another modeling paste.

Here are some close up images,

for butterfly I have used glossy accent and diamond dust. My daughter was really want her photo with this project, and I really like she is slowly involving herself in craft, so here are some photos of her.

I hope you like my first mixed media. Let me know your suggestions and view below in comments.

Thanks for stopping by, see ya soon with some new craft.

Butterfly Card + Distress Background

Hi everyone,

Summer has started here in Chennai, so early :(. Hope you all take care in this summer, drink plenty of Lemon Water (Nimbu Pani). So back to my card, I have made some cool card with distress background and butterfly using Mudra Butterfly flutter stamp set. Basically this card is inspired by Yainea. So here is my card,

Birthday Card 7

I have used for background “Dusty Concord”, “Salty Ocean”, and “Cracked Pistachio” distress ink to make background and I randomly start adding color and before adding another color I make sure that first color is dried. I stamped same stamp over background as starting from biggest butterfly, I have used “Seedless Preserves”, “Chipped Sapphire”, and “Twisted Citron”.

Birthday Card 7-1

To make pop up butterfly, I stamped same butterfly on acetate sheet with archival black ink and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. And stick over background stamp.

Birthday Card 7-2

I have also stamped same big butterfly inside the card also and water-colored with “Seedless Preserves” distress ink.

Birthday Card 7-3

This is the inside of the card, stamp is from mama elephant Birthday wishes and heat embossed with princess gold embossing powder.

I hope you like my card, please share your view and suggestion below comment box.

Background Techniques

Hi all,

Today sharing some little but useful background techniques using some Distress Inks, Heat Embossing and Bokeh technique. Let’s see my three cards,

Let’s start with one by one cards, stats from left to right:

Bokeh Technique: I used 5″x7″ watercolor cardstock and make a distress background using Festive Berries, Picked Raspberry and Spun Sugar inks. For Bokeh Technique you will need stencil (I have used heart die and make own stencil), and any white color pigment ink. Once you achieve desired background, let it dry naturally or you can use heat gun then put your stencil and simple apply white ink over stencil, let it dry as pigment ink takes time to dry naturally (heat gun is fast way to dry). Noe your background is ready. Embellish as per your idea and imagination.

Heat Embossed Background: For this technique you will need washi tape/painters tape, versamark ink, Embossing Powder (any color, any company doesn’t matter) and heat gun. So first cut your base card (i have used normal white cardstock, measures 5″x7″),  and adhere washi tape as per your choice (I did diagonally), and apply versamark over it. Carefully remove all washi tape and sprinkle embossing powder, if you can see any powder over washi tape area then just remove it thru paint brush. Melt embossing powder using heat gun and here you go your background is ready (you can use distress ink instead of Heat Embossing). Embellish as per your idea and imagination.

Distress Ink Background (Starburst Effect): For this gather some supplies like choice of distress ink, masking tape/washi tap and watercolor paper. Make a center of a card and mark with pencil. tear two masking tape bigger than your watercolor cardstock. Put one tape over pencil mark and another over it (basically you need to make triangle shape, narrow or broad as per your like). and start applying distress ink from corner where both tape meet (pencil mark) and go outwards (make sure do not go over tape and for this effect only apply more ink near to mark and less ink outside). Now for next you need to remove tape carefully and put one tape slightly over distress ink background which we just created and then another tape over it and make again triangle. Same way you can go ahead till you reach first color background. Embellish as per your idea and imagination.

I hope this three technique inspire you to make new cards. Please leave your valuable suggestions/view below in comments.

Thanks for stopping by. See you soon with new technique and card till then happy crafting.

Love Card + Handmade Embossing Folder

Hi all,

How are you? It been long time I have posted here, so here is a quick cards with some handmade techniques. Yes, Handmade technique non other than Embossing folder. I have made this card for Valentine’s Day. So here it goes, have a look:

Here I have made embossing folder with Heart die (smallest one). I die cut almost many times to achieve a embossing folder. This handmade embossing has 5 layer (I think this more than enough).

So here is small process to achieve Heart Emboss Background. You need handmade embossing folder (any pattern), and silicon sheet/foam sheet (here I have used 5″x7″ sheet as my card is of same size). That’s it. Now take your bigshot machine, place your acrylic sheet -> handmade embossing folder -> your cardstock on which you want embossing effect ( I have used my watercolor paper) -> and last second acrylic plate. Roll at least 5 times to get proper effect. I hope you can see effect.

I have used Mudra stamp (Love) and gold embossed over vellum sheet and DCAM Alphabet Die and also gold embossed it. Adhered each elements over my distressed and Handmade Embossing background. To finish my card I splatter gold perfect pearl powder (mixed with water) and some flower sequins.

I hope I have inspired you with this small technique. Please leave your valuable suggestion/view in a comment box below.

Shaker Card with Heat Embossing

Hello Friends,

Today, I have a project to share with you using Heat embossing, a very easy and popular technique and one of my favorite technique with shaker card (again very popular).

Let’s check out my project.

So for my project I have used Altenew Peony Bouquet stamp and Fiskars stamp Good Times.

Stamped the flowers and heat embossed it with Ranger’s Gold embossing powder on Bielo CS. To color the stamped image I used Zig clean brush markers, here I have colored only shaker part and left the rest without coloring. I have die cut the rectangle stitched from Lawn Fawn die to make shaker card window. For shaker elements I have used some star and cupcake sequins from Lawn Fawn.

I have 12 colors set of Zig clean brush markers so with this colors only I colored Altenew Peony Bouquet image. For one flower I have mixed red and yellow color to form orange color and once its dry I just gave some stroke with red color. I have used light blue to color my second flower and again give some stroke with dark blue. And the last small flower which is on top of right corner, I colored it with yellow and gave stroke with light green.
TIP: Bielo CS doesn’t hold water for long time so I didn’t used water. I have directly blended the colors. As these are water based markers so the tip of markers don’t get damage. If you want the colors to be light the use Brustro watercolor paper and use water for blending, Brustro are watercolor paper so it holds the water and you can blend it very easily.

Some close up to see how I colored them,

To finish up my project I have adhered them on black CS.

I hope you liked my project and inspire you to make to work with informative techniques.
Love and Regards,

Notepad Calendar

Hello Crafters,

I am Zalak, Hope you all doing well and as year is going to end I wish you A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your family. I really want to thank you Rainbow Craftykari for this opportunity. This is my first GDT post and as a guest designer I came up with small Notepad Calendar tutorial, I hope you all will enjoy this tutorial and also make for your friends and relatives. (Excuse me with my bulky project and pictures 😀 ).

Inspired by following mood board for Papericious challenge.

I made Notepad Calendar using color, flowers, sequins as a inspiration from Papericious December Mood Board. This is what final project will look a like.

So Let’s start with tutorial (Base Structure for calendar)

The material for base structure you can use chipboard or cardboard (I have used chipboard). There will be different measurements for both materials so let’s see what are the measurements.

For Chipboard you need following size of cutouts:

  • 6 3/4″ x 6″ (17cms x 15cms) – 1 pc
  • 3 3/8″ x 6″ (8.5cms x 15cms) – 2 pcs
  • 3/8″ x 6″ ( 1cm x 15cms) – 1 pc

Now you need to stick above chipboard pieces as you prepare scrapbook album base. Once you stick all pieces you will get below image layout. (I have covered it with black cardstock both sides).

Now you need to fold this base such that it will become folding support to calendar as in image below.

So you will now have Notepad Calendar base. Before going for next steps you need to cover the base with pattern papers (I have left blank as I want base to be Black only).

For Cardboard you need 14″ x 6″ (35cms x 15cms) long cardboard cutout.

Now score cardboard at 6 3/4″, 3/8″, 3 3/8″ (17cms, 1cm, 8.5cms)

Same fold cardboard as per above images.

Now you will need 13 cardboard cutouts and 1 base cutout (we will attach all month cutout to this base with ring binder) size of 6 1/2″ x 5″ ( 16.5 cms x 12.5 cms) and 6 3/4″ x 6″ (17cms x 15cms) accordingly. 12 for each month (or can make 6 for each month back to back) and 1 for front cover page.

Now after sticking pattern paper to your base structure, attach chipboard cutout to a first where triangular shape starts (for reference see below image), and also stick notepad (here i have used sticky notes, size is 5″x3″). You will get below final base structure.

This is how your base will look a like after finishing. Hope my tutorial and measurements are clear, if you have any doubts you can drop your query below in comments.

I am now giving you brief information about the front page, which will be look a like below image.

So first I have gathered all materials which are:

  • watercolor paper
  • Papericious brick chipboard
  • Mama Elephant Number It dies
  • Butterfly mdf cutout
  • some flowers, leaves, laces, sequins (flower and stars), twins
  • Ranger Texture Paste and Setncils
  • Distress Ink (Picked Raspberry, Peacock Feathers, and Twisted Citron)
  • Ranger Glossy Accent
  • Diamond Dust

First I start with watercolor paper and applied texture paste using stencil, let it air dry. Then I wet paper and randomly applied distress inks, and mean while it is drying I cut brick chipboard into various design and colored with distress ink.

Once background was dried I splattered same color for some spots. Before assembling layout I die cut Numbers (2017) 5 times and adhered them on top of each other, and colored it with Craved Pumpkin distress ink after that I have applied glossy accent over it and let it air dry.

For butterfly I have used seedless preserve and picked raspberry distress ink and applied dimoand dust over it using glossy accent, same I have done with flowers. Now everything is dried so I started adhering together from lace, chipboard, twins, flowers, leaves, numbers (2017) and butterfly. And for final touch used sequins.

Once you are happy with your layout punch paper to attach with ring binder and use those holes for reference and do for all rest of 12 papers and cardboard (Note: if you adhere paper over cardboard then it will be very difficult to punch them).

Some close up images for front layout.

Now I have decorated rest 12 month pages, which you all can see in below images.

For sentiments and calendar, I have printed them and cut into desire size and attach them on my layouts.

I hope you will like my tutorial post, please leave your valuable comments and suggestion into below comment box. Also feel free to ask your doubts for this post, I will be happy to answer you.
